Can-Am Spyder F3-S

Advanced engine-drivetrain-suspension performance algorithms provide incredible dynamic modes for cars nowadays, take for instance, the Drift mode in the Ford Focus RS, the Ludicrous mode in the Tesla Model S, not to mention the Launch Control management in some of the newly released sports cars. Now, that same total  performance management has been applied to a vehicle with only three wheels.

The new 2017 Can-Am Spyder F3-S offers a new setting called the Sport mode, which switches off traction control and optimises the Vehicle Stability System, allowing controlled spinning of only the rear tire, enabling the F3-S to drift and slide like a four-wheeled sports car. Powered by a 1330 cc three-cylinder engine with 115 hp and 96 lb-ft of torque, it transfers all that power to the tarmac via a six-speed transmission available in either manual or semi-automatic configurations. It also comes with Brembo brakes and Fox gas front shocks, as well as dynamic power steering, cruise control, and ABS.

The inspiration for the F3-S arrives via the Spyder F3 Turbo Concept revealed earlier this year, although the F3-S comes sans the turbocharger. There is also a Daytona 500 Special Edition available, featuring unique graphics, spoiler, grille, wheels, seat cowl and drag-style handlebar. The standard F3-S is priced at US$21,249; you’ll need US$22,249 for the special Daytona edition. It’s no exaggeration to say this three-wheeled wonder should provide more smiles-per-mile than anything else on the road.
