CIGA Design has earned a reputation for producing mechanical watches that make their inner workings the centrepiece, rather than hiding them beneath a conventional dial. The new Hunter Vintage continues that philosophy.
The Hunter Vintage retains the distinctive open-work architecture of the original Hunter collection. Instead of a traditional dial, the self-developed CD-07 automatic movement is fully exposed, with its bridges arranged in a striking X-shaped layout. With its gears, jewels, and structural components on display, the movement itself becomes the watch’s defining visual feature.
Measuring 43 × 48 mm, the three-layer tonneau-shaped case is crafted from micro-sandblasted 316L stainless steel with polished chamfered edges that catch the light from different angles. Cut-outs along the sides continue the skeletonised theme, while the lugless design gives the watch a seamless appearance on the wrist beneath a curved sapphire crystal. The same layered finishing extends to the exposed movement, creating subtle contrasts between matte and polished surfaces.
Power comes from CIGA Design’s self-developed CD-07 automatic calibre. Beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the 24-jewel movement delivers a 40-hour power reserve and features a compact, KE-efficient rotor that concentrates its mass within a 120-degree arc, reducing its overall footprint while remaining fully visible through the exhibition caseback. Swiss Super-LumiNova ensures the exposed hands and markers remain legible after dark, while the watch offers water resistance to 3 ATM.
A matching 316L stainless steel H-link bracelet with a hidden clasp and quick-release mechanism completes the package. Available in Sand Gold, Rose Gold, and Brown Gold, the Hunter Vintage introduces a warmer, more refined character through a trio of new finishes inspired by the glow of sunrise after a long night.
