Dependent On Mother Nature
Ralfonso “Art in Motion” Exhibition at MB&F M.A.D. Gallery

Swiss artist Ralfonso is known for his kinetic sculptures that fall somewhere in the valley between engineering and art. His work relies on natural elements such as wind, water, light and time to create dynamic and unpredictable interactions at the hands of Mother Nature.

“My work has the added element of time and change-over-time – so it goes beyond just a three-dimensional shape,” says Ralfonso.

One of his signature art pieces is the 10-meter tall “Dance with the Wind”, commissioned for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. This sculpture undulates with either the gentlest breeze or the strongest winds to produce a poetic, yet unpredictable dance.

A selection of his works (including Dance with the Wind) is currently displayed at the MB&F M.A.D.Gallery in Geneva. Be sure to check out the exhibition if you are in town.
