Creating A Futuristic Landscape
Cyberpunk and Neon-Noir photos by Steve Roe

Seoul-based photographer and digital artist Steve Roe has captured a few Asian cities with his unique style and turned them into surreal imagery. Inspired by the area he lives in, filled with neon signs advertising clubs, food, cafes and ‘massage’ rooms, he realised the grime and mould on the ceiling could become part of the aesthetics and cables overhead just built a perfect scene for cyberpunk and neon-noir setting.

From Seoul, Tokyo to Hong Kong, the places under Roe’s lens looks nothing unlike the scenes in Blade Runner or any dark, cyberpunk films. In some of the photos, Roe shoots through a fractal light prism which generates a kaleidoscopic effect, making the originally frenetic neons lights on buildings and on the streets even more alluring.
