An Important Piece of History
1966 Ferrari Dino Berlinetta GT

Among the many exquisite models that Californian house Gooding & Company will be auctioning at Pebble Beach sale this weekend, there will be a unique and remarkable example of the Ferrari Dino Berlinetta GT.

Chassis #00106 was the second Ferrari Dino prototype built by Pininfarina. The first Dino prototype  was designed by Aldo Brovarone and exhibited at the 1965 Paris Motor Show. After its debut Pininfarina continued to develop the concept for something closer to a production version, which led to this beautiful Dino Berlinetta GT first shown in 1966 Torino Motor Show.

Compared with the production version 206 GT, the prototype has a few differences. The car is particularly recognisable with its more elongated shape, mainly due to the fact that its 2-litre V6 engine is mounted longitudinally instead of transversely. The rectangular taillight assemblies each have three small circular lights and chrome bars are also unique to this prototype.

Check out the listing page for the full story of this classic beauty, which is expected to fetch up to US$ 3 million.
