Baojun E100

Presenting the Baojun E100, the first electric vehicle from SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), one of General Motors’ joint ventures in China. The new EV will only be available in Liuchow, Guangxi in China, with an initial run of 200 cars. It will cost ¥35,800 (US$5,300) following both government and local EV subsidies.

The two-seat E100 is tiny. It has a 1,600 mm wheelbase and is just 1,670 mm tall with a turning radius of 12 feet. Power comes from a 14.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a single electric motor producing about 39 horsepower and 81 pound-feet of torque. The Baojun 100 has a range of 155 km on a single charge. There’s no word of fast charging, but the battery reaches full charge from empty in about 7.5 hours using a regular wall plug.

Inside, the E100 has a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity including Bluetooth and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot; everything you’ll need to embark on a new journey.
