Fernado Alonso to debut at Le Mans With Toyota

Fernando Alonso has never been shy about his dream of conquering motorsport’s “Triple Crown” – wins at the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indy 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. While his first attempt at the Indy 500 last year did not bring him the a top podium spot, he is still moving towards this dream with McLaren recently announcing that it will allow him to race in the World Endurance Championship, which includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The two-time Formula 1 champion will join all of the WEC races as long as they do not clash with the F1 schedule, which is still his priority. The only WEC race he may have to miss is the Fuji round on 21 October as it clashes with the United States Grand Prix over the same weekend, but word on the street is that the WEC organisers are considering changing the date for the Japanese round. Either way, Alonso will debut as a WEC driver at Spa on 5 May, sharing the #8 TS050 Hybrid with Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima.
