Leica M10

Leica is keen on bringing elements from their earlier iconic film cameras to their new, digital products, but until now it occurred only with a limited edition like the Leica M Edition 60 or Leica M-P Correspondent. Thankfully, with their latest Leica M10, the company has bestowed that classic presence and ergonomics to a standard release. At a glance, you may not notice the differences between the recent models and the new M10, but you only need to hold the camera in your hands to discover it’s immediately delightful. With a 33.75 mm thickness and 20 g less weight than the previous generation, the M10 is the lightest M Series digital camera in Leica history and comparable to the legendary M3.

The Leica M10’s minimal approach is instantly noticeable with only three buttons: LV, Play and Menu on the back of the camera. There is a new ISO dial on the top surface so you can manually set the initial settings just like a traditional Leica film camera. The M10 is equipped with a re-engineered 24 MP full-frame CMOS sensor and Maestro II processor, delivering a sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 50,000 and now features built-in WiFi. The continuous shooting speed is five fps with the maximum exposure time now increased to 125 seconds. The camera also supports the Live View function, and the field of view magnification factor has been increased by 0.73. With so many improvements, the M10’s only drawback is perhaps the lack of video filming.
