Artistic Jewels from Junk
Edouard Martinet’s Insect Sculptures

At first glance, the images seem to be merely a collection of beautifully photographed common insects and animals, but a closer look reveals a world of mechanical aesthetics!

These exquisite sculptures of insects, fish and animals are made by Edouard Martinet, a French artist who has been obsessed with insects since he was a child and now has become the art world’s virtuoso insectophile. He has culled bits and pieces of cast-off junk from flea markets and trunk sales and transformed them into artistically executed insect, fish and animal forms.

His extraordinary sculptures express elegance and formal clarity, and the unique way he has attached the parts without the use of soldering or welding not only exhibits unbelievable craftsmanship on par with a watchmaker but also offers an extra level of visual richness with character and new life.
