Another Form Of Creative Expression
Karl Lagerfeld “Architectures” exhibition

Karl Lagerfeld is known to the world for his endless energy and creativity. In his 80’s he is still head of creative in Chanel, Fendi and his own label, but his work in not limited to fashion. Apart from photographing and filming the campaign for the fashion brands he works for, he has also designed for residential development and worked on countless collaborations. His latest project is the upcoming and first sculpture exhibition, “Architectures,” which runs from 19 October to December 22 at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Paris.

The exhibition showcases “the origin of beauty, culture and modernity” through functional, monochromatic sculptures inspired by antiquity. Exhibits ranging from gueridons, tables, lamps, consoles, fountains and mirrors, each piece is carved from a whole marble block: either the Arabescato Fantastico, a rare, white marble with dark grey veins, or Nero Marquina, a black marble, with brush stroke-like milky white veins. The sculptures were carved and polished by artisans in Italy under architect Aline Asmar d’Amman guidance. The collection is limited to eight editions per marble variety, plus four artist proofs.
