While being an actor made Paul Newman well known to the rest of the world, he also spent an enormous amount of time on the race tracks as well as building his car collection. One of his on-track companions was this 1979 Datsun 280ZX which he took the SCCA C Production National Championship with the Bob Sharp Racing team, and it is now available for sale after a thorough restoration.

Newman started to race in Datsun in 1978, and for the 1980s he was seen on Bob Sharp 280ZX or 300ZX Turbo. This particular 280ZX with chassis number 100026 helped Newman achieved seven race wins and two lap records in the 1979 SCCA C Production National Championship season. Although the race car has been fully restored, many original spare parts including engine and extra body parts, hood, original wheels and memorabilia are included in the sale. Given most things related to Paul Newman are recently auctioned with a steep price, this one will probably too.
