After Nights Out by Julien Mauve
Natural twilights no longer put people to sleep.

Once you have lost the light source you have lost your direction. Light is what we use to explore the depths of a city with, and without light, we can not see. French photographer Julien Mauve bred his series “After Nights Out” from this idea, where each of his images depicts a dim and predicament appearing city, which is later given a spot of light through post productions on Photoshop. He specializes in revealing the relationships we have with our living environment, including our reliance on technology, which is a proposition closely linked to everyone of us.

Each frame consists of the gloomiest shades in black and blue to not only strengthen its visual communication but also to create a scene and induce this idea of the immediate fear we all have of not being able to see light. Even though they may not be the most imagination intriguing photographs, at least it goes back to the basics and challenges the world today with a question. In our era where everybody dwells obsessively within their smart phones, our lighted streets and natural twilights no longer put people to sleep. This idea has been taken for granted by the people in the city who is always living under a well lit environment, yet if natural light goes missing, what would happen to us tomorrow?
