Adding The Human Touch
Bulgari Octo Finissimo 10th Anniversary Special Editions

The Octo watch collection from Bulgari, which first launched in 2012, has become a true representation of mechanical timepieces with minimalist design, featuring an iconic eight-sided case that is aesthetically alluring, contemporary looking, and rooted in the brand’s heritage. The Octo Finissimo line has even broken a few records since its debut in 2014, thanks to the thinness of the watches. As the Octo collection celebrates its 10th anniversary, two special editions have been released, adding an additional layer of human touch to the Octo Finissimo timepieces.

The Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT and the Octo Finissimo Automatic have been completely redesigned, as the dials of the special editions now feature the first Octo sketches drawn by Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Bulgari’s Product Creation Executive Director. The pencil strokes reflect the original timepieces as they were first conceptualised, showing the way Stigliani laid out different elements. Everything except the hands, including the index, numbers, BVLGARI logo and the fine prints, are a replica of Stigliani’s original drawings. The details in the sub-dials are especially enjoyable as they are so precise.

In terms of materials, both watches feature a sandblasted titanium case and bracelet, and a matte grey sandblasted titanium dial. The Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT has a diameter of 42mm, and the automatic winding BVL318 calibre is just 3.30mm thin, has a power reserve of 55 hours and is water-resistant to 30 metres. The 40mm Octo Finissimo Automatic watch features the ultra-thin 2.23 mm BVL138 calibre automatic winding movement with up to 60-hour power reserve and again 30m water-resistant. Both special editions are limited to 200 pieces each.
