Techno Classica Essen 2017

As one of the world’s biggest vintage car shows, Techno Classica Essen is heaven for any classic and prestige automobile, motorsport and motorcycle fan. There are over 1,000 exhibitors from 30 countries at the event not only they selling cars but some also offering supporting services such as restoration, tuning, maintenance as well as selling spare parts and tools.

Techno Classica takes place on 5-9 April this year. While the options on offer are near-endless just like every year, our eyes are set on the 1933 Duesenberg Model J. Each Model J was built to special order and this particular example was crafted by coachbuilder Jean-Baptiste Franay specially for the “Queen of Diamonds” Mabel Boll. Another noteworthy exhibitor is a Mille Miglia-eligible 1949 Jaguar XK 120. The convertible has beautiful curves and is one of only 240 examples that utilised a hand-built aluminium body fitted to ash frames and mounted on a modified Jaguar Mark V chassis. If you are after something more recent, then the 1989 Ferrari F40 launched in celebration of the automaker’s 40 anniversary could be a good option. The example on offer has low mileage and is in excellent condition.

Other exhibits of note include a 1936 Bentley Special, a 1958 Abarth 750 GT Zagato and a 2003 Ferrari 360 raced in the American Le Mans Series.
