Track-Derived Performance
Ferrari 488 Pista

Ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari has revealed the details of the long awaited, race-inspired model 488 Pista, which will make its public debut at the show next month.

488 Pista is part of the V8-engined special series, following on from the incredible 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale models, and has taken plenty of inspiration and technology from the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge race cars, as well as Ferrari’s extensive racing experience. The front F1-inspired S-Duct,  the front diffusers with ramp angle optimised for the 488 GTE, as well as specifically-designed underbody vortex generators, rear diffuser and blown spoiler result in a 20% increase in downforce combined.

The exterior features a visibly shorter nose, giving it a compact look and creating an original ‘floating wing’ effect. The concept is filled with aerodynamic elements, together with the dolphin-tail rear spoiler, they do a perfect job emphasising the car’s efficiency and power. The cockpit is clean and stripped down to minimise weight.

“Pista” means “track” in Italian, and the name of the new car certainly signals the marque’s determination to bring track performance to the road. The result is a vehicle with great dynamic and aerodynamic attributes with less weight. The 488 Pista weighs 90 kg less than the 488 GTB, at 1280 kg dry. Powered by the same legendary 3.9-litre twin turbocharged V8, now tuned to generate 711 hp and 770 Nm, the 488 Pista accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.85 seconds and tops out at over 340 km/h, compared to 3.0 seconds and 330 km/h for the 488 GTB.
