Timepiece Pairing
Mr. Porter and The Rake styled key watches from Phillips’ auction

What are your criteria for selecting a watch — function, brand, appearance or others? If appearance is high on your list, then how much effort would you put into matching your watch with the total look as well as the occasion? These questions just came to mind when browsing the lots in Phillips’ upcoming “STYLED. Timeless Watches & How to Wear Them” auction.

Phillips has partnered with menswear online retailers/magazines Mr. Porter and The Rake to introduce some tips on watch pairing as both are the go-to platforms for all things sartorial. For this project, Mr. Porter and The Rake each put together 12 looks for different occasions, with each look featuring one of the best timepieces from the upcoming auction. These occasions range from business and eveningwear to more specific ones such as going to Wimbledon, Art Basel or a wedding.

For something closer to our heart — the Goodwood Revival, Mr. Porter has selected a 1967 Omega Seamaster 300 specially made for the British Royal Army, and The Rake’s choice is a Heuer chronograph with contrasting subdials circa 1966. Head over to Phillips’ website to read the detailed feature. As for the auction, it features 120 lots and takes place in New York on 5 December.
