Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept

A bold new concept has revived the classic Scrambler nameplate as a high-speed desert performer, marking the first time the SRT performance division has applied its expertise to an open-air Jeep built for flat-out off-road speed rather than rock crawling. Unveiled at the 2026 SEMA Show, the Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept transforms a two-door Wrangler into a short-bed pickup inspired by the legendary CJ-8 while introducing significant technical departures.

The most radical change sits up front. For the first time in Wrangler history, the traditional solid front axle has been replaced by a bespoke high-travel independent suspension developed in collaboration with off-road racing champion Casey Currie. The architecture draws from the Jeep Striker concept that Currie campaigned to a class win at the NORRA 500, delivering improved steering precision, wheel control, and high-speed stability across desert terrain. At the rear, a trophy-truck-inspired axle is paired with Fox dampers and large BFGoodrich KM3 tires mounted on bronze beadlock wheels.

Visually, the concept wears Punk’n orange paint and features the Sharknose front end first seen at the Easter Jeep Safari. Longer doors, custom rear bodywork, unique fender flares, a structural roll cage, and an integrated spray-lined pickup bed complete the transformation. The bed incorporates a clever modular rear bench that clips into floor-mounted hooks, allowing it to be removed entirely for maximum cargo capacity or rotated 180 degrees for rear-facing seating.

Inside, the cabin balances rugged purpose with premium detailing. Dark Graphite leather is contrasted by orange inserts, bronze accents, and SRT embroidery, creating an environment suited to both high-speed desert runs and open-air adventure. While Jeep has not disclosed specific engine details, the concept is confirmed to be V8-powered, with the presentation emphasizing unconstrained SRT performance development.

Though a one-off SEMA build and not for sale, the Wrangler Scrambler SRT Concept serves as a clear signal of intent. The manufacturer has already confirmed a production Scrambler is in development, with an SRT variant expected as part of the future lineup. This concept demonstrates how the brand is prepared to evolve the open-air formula for a new era of high-speed desert capability.
