The Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring
Automotive Art in LA

Los Angeles’s Petersen Automotive Museum is currently displaying an exhibition of Keith Haring’s work in “The Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring”.

The exhibit features works of art created during Haring’s artist-in-residencies at the Montreux Jazz Fest and 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as the promotional events for the Fast Art Gallery in New Jersey and Galerie Hans Mayer in Düsseldorf. Among the works are a 1987 Honda CBR1000F Hurricane, 1990 BMW Z1, 1962 SCAF/Mortarini Mini Ferrari 330 P2 Motorized Child’s Automobile, 1971 Land Rover Series III and 1964 Buick Special. These vehicles serve as examples of the many unconventional surfaces on which Haring painted and stand as meaningful icons that reflect particular people and places, as well as the artist’s philosophies about politics, society and art.

“The Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring” will run until June 4, 2017. Be sure to visit the exhibition if you are in the city. Check out the official website for more details.
