“Grip – Das Motormagazin”, the German motoring TV show recently offered something more entertaining than Batman v Superman. They set up a race between a hybrid car, the Porsche 918 Spyder, and a highly aerobatic aircraft on the straightaway at the Zweibrucken airport.

Usually it is a turkey shoot to determine which is faster between a car and a plane, but this time the audience had to watch through the end to find out which one is the winner. Matthias Malmedie was the test driver of the smashing Porsche 918 Spyder. It can reach a maximum speed of over 300 km/h thanks to its hybrid powerstrain generating 887 hp and 1,280 Nm torque. Meanwhile, its opponent Zivko Edge 540 V3 aircraft has been the winner on the international Unlimited Aerobatics circuit several times since mid-1990s.
