Saoutchik’s Masterpiece
1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Sport Coupe de Ville

Pictured above is a 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Sport with one-off coachwork developed by Saoutchik. This particular car was displayed at the 1950 Paris Motor Show and received “Grand Prix du Salon” — the most significant award of the event.

The Talbot-Lago T26 was equipped with a 4.5-litre straight six engine with 195 hp. Most examples were built as a saloon, while the Sport model had a shorter chassis. The glorious history and the sleek silhouette make it almost unbelievable that such a masterpiece was left forgotten for over 20 years. It was then discovered by Nevada collector Bob Lee in barn-find condition. The current owner gave it an exhaustive, no-expense-spared professional restoration based on its heyday, and it is now ready for road driving and concours. Bonhams will be selling this beautiful masterpiece at the Qauil Lodge auction happening on 24 August.
