If raw off road ability and ‘murica-ness is the question, then the answer is always going to be military AM General Hummer vehicles. Since the closing of the automaker in 2010, there’s an empty void to be filled. Mil-Spec Automotive has just announced the Hummer H1 ‘Launch Edition’, which is the first vehicle from the Michigan-based company.

Each Mil-Spec car retains only the donor AM General’s original frame rails and body, which are first re-manufactured or restored in house. The Launch Edition is equipped with a 6.6-litre turbodiesel LBZ V8 engine that can generate 500 hp and 1356 Nm. Suspension is also different to the original Hummer H1. Extra features are added to the interior for aesthetic and functional purposes since the original design was planned for a military car and extremely minimal. This includes marine-grade leather, LED lighting, JL Audio premium system and a list of bespoke features. The Launch Edition is only available as a custom build.
