Revealing The Details
Sony α7R III

Sony is adding a new member to its full frame mirrorless camera series two years after its last model addition. The brand new α7R III, similar to its successor, is equipped with a full-frame 42.4-megapixel EXMOR R sensor powered by an optimised BIONZ processor that offers improved performance in both continuous shooting and focusing. The new camera can shoot up to 76 jpeg/raw images or 28 uncompressed raw images continuously with AF tracking and auto ISO, and up to 10fps continuous shooting of 42.4-megapixel images.

The Pixel Shift Multi Shooting function is another highlight of α7R III. The sensor is shifted in 1-pixel increments for capturing four pixel-shifted images containing a total of approximately 169.6 million pixels. These four images can be combined using the “Image Edge” software for excellent image performance and colour accuracy. The function is ideal for architecture, art or still photography, resulting in complex details and accurate colours. Other upgraded configurations include 399 phase-detection AF points covering approximately 68% of image area width and height. Together with the 425 densely positioned contrast-detection AF points, there are a total of 400 AF points more than the previous generation. The built-in 5-axis image stabilisation offers 5.5-stop exposure advantage. Other new features would definitely benefit professional photographers, including dual SD memory card slots, extended power range (with NP-FZ100 battery), and SuperSpeed (USB 3.1 Gen 1) enabled by a USB Type-C connector.

Sony has also launched the FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS standard zoom lens (SEL24105G). Covering the commonly used 24 mm to 105 mm focus range, the lens is compact and lightweight compared with similar lenses and is good for various shooting occasions including landscapes, portraits and weddings. Its AF drive system offers fast, precise and quiet focusing for both stills and movies.
