HAY Kitchen Market Kitchenware Collection

The HAY Kitchen Market is a new collection developed by HAY’s creative director Mette Hay and chef Frederik Bille Brahe. After the duo created a temporary café for the HAY exhibition during the 2016 Milan Design Week, Mette enlisted Frederik to handpick some of the most vital tools and essential pieces for the everyday kitchen.

Frederik is best known for his café Atelier September and restaurant Apollo Bar in Copenhagen. While serving healthy food that is both intriguing and straightforward, the look and feel of his industrial-style kitchen has also become synonymous with the Copenhagen culinary scene and an inspiration for the collection.

The collection offers everyday kitchenware like pots, pans, graters, cutting boards and peelers, as well as plates, cups, glasses and cutlery. The duo takes design cues from kitchenware found around the world, such as handmade glasses from Morocco, water pitchers from India, sponges from Japan and soap from France. They then reconsider or reinvent the products for the collection regarding a diverse range of textures and colours, resulting in a collection that combines the vitality and functionality of everyday kitchenware with the passion of HAY design.

Look for the collection to be available at HAY select stockists starting September.
