As any whisky connoisseur would know, bourbon casks, along with sherry casks, are commonly used for ageing Scotch whisky. Balazs Moldovan from California-based Hungarian Workshop has maximised the usage of bourbon barrels with his handcrafted Adirondack-style furniture.

Moldovan’s collection includes various pieces of furniture, home decors and fun items such as skateboard and chess set. The most impressive one is probably the lounge chair. Moldovan work with the natural curve from the barrel staves hence the chair provides excellent support through out. The staves are lightly sanded for a smooth finished but without removing any of the wood’s natural colour or patina so each chair is unique. If you prefer a more sophisticated style, Hungarian Workshop also offers the chairs with Italian leather upholstered cushion for extra level of comfort.
