Phillips & Blackbird: SPORTS watch auction

Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo has teamed up with Blackbird Automotive Group and its founder TK Mak for the upcoming Phillips & Blackbird: SPORTS watch auction. The sale event is a novelty for the auction house as this is its first ever watch auction curated by an Asian collector.

All of the 82 sports watches of the sale are in top notch condition and from renowned watchmakers including Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, IWC, Omega, Richard Mille and more, and are conceptually categorised into six groups – WIND, AIR, SNOW, TARMAC, LAWN and WATER. Some of the highlights include a 1958 Rolex ref. 6538 Submariner Big Crown, a 1960 Rolex ref. 6234 Pre-Daytona and a 1951 Rolex ref. 6036 yellow old split-seconds chronograph that named after three-time Olympic ski champion and Rolex ambassador Jean- Claude Killy. Collectors of other watchmakers may be interested in the impeccable and elegant 1980 Patek Philippe ref. 2499/100 yellow gold perpetual calendar chronograph with moonphase. The auction also features a Zenith El Primero Flyback prototype made for Felix Baumgartner’s historical space jump in 2012, and a Universal Genève Polerouter that was once owned and worn by Bruce Lee.

The event will take place on 27 May evening at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, with preview scheduled on 23 to 27 May at the same location and 22 May in Blackbird Concessionaires Showroom in Repulse Bay, Hong Kong. An international highlights tour with key pieces will travel to Bangkok, Singapore, Shanghai, Taipei and Geneva before the auction. Details of the tour as well as select highlights are now available on the website and the full catalogue will be uploaded towards the auction day.
