Leica introduced its first production camera, the Leica I, in 1925 under its former iteration, Leitz, and it forever changed the world of photography. One hundred years later, in 2025, Leica is celebrating this milestone anniversary with a special edition M11 camera and a thoughtfully designed collection of accessories and collectables in collaboration with select brands, under the theme “100 Years of Leica.”
The Leica M11 100 Years of Leica Anniversary Edition features a high-gloss black paint finish for its exterior, while its technical specifications are the same as the original Leica M11. It is available in six different regional editions, each limited to 100 units, with the specific city and country engraved on the top plate: Wetzlar Germany, New York USA, Tokyo Japan, Milan Italy, Dubai UAE, and Shanghai China. The individual engravings and limited-edition numbering enhance the camera’s uniqueness and rarity, especially as they can only be purchased in the respective locations engraved on them.
The Dubai edition of the Leica M11 100 Years of Leica was launched last month with a spectacular event and exhibition, while the next release is expected in New York in May. Leica has also collaborated with various brands to create exclusive collectables, including collector’s edition teddy bears from Steiff, a pen, pencil, and crafting set with colouring pencils from Faber-Castell, as well as accessories such as cufflinks, a bracelet, a soft-release button, and a hot shoe cover featuring the 100 Years of Leica special logo.
