China’s Latest Electric Hypercar
HiPhi A electric hypercar

China undeniably stands as one of the foremost countries in electric vehicle manufacturing, and it’s heartening to witness that the electric vehicles produced there go beyond practical daily cars. At the Guangzhou Auto Show, Shanghai-based electric technology brand HiPhi recently unveiled a hypercar concept simply named the ‘HiPhi A’.

This 4-door, 4-seater concept is the result of a collaboration between HiPhi and another Chinese brand, Wesail New Energy Automotive. It combines HiPhi’s battery and motor technology with elements from Wesail’s Apollo hypercar. The futuristic body styling is crafted from carbon fibre with a matte paint finish, featuring a substantial rear wing and wide tires for a strikingly aggressive stance.

Surprisingly, the performance of the HiPhi A is quite impressive. It adopts a front single-motor drive and rear dual-motor drive layout, yielding a total output of up to 1,287 hp. The ultra-high-speed carbon-fibre rotors of the motors allow them to reach a whopping 22,000 rpm. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is claimed to be just over 2 seconds, with a top speed nearing 300 km/h. The hypercar also boasts a front-to-rear axle weight ratio close to 50:50. Unique features, including a carbon fibre bullet-proof bottom shield and a fireproof sprayed carbon fibre top cover, add further intrigue.

The HiPhi A is not merely a fantasy concept; the company intends to put it into limited production and commence deliveries in Q1 2025.
