McLaren 570S GT4 racing series

McLaren is launching its own racing series following automakers such as Ferrari and Lamborghini. The Sports Series race events are the latest addition to the Pure McLaren customer track experience programme. Designed especially for the track-only 570S GT4, car owners with a racing licence will have the chance to compete at legendary circuits across Europe.

The first McLaren GT4 race event took place over the weekend as part of the Pure McLaren programme at the legendary Circuit Paul Ricard in France, including qualifying sessions and two 30-minute races under regulations and sanctioned by the British Automobile Racing Club.

The calendar for the 2018 season has yet to been announced, but it will include stops at iconic circuits including Silverstone in the UK and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The 570S GT4 is based on the road going model, featuring carbon fibre Monocell II chassis, a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 engine and racing-specific parts such as upgraded aerodynamic package, FIA-approved rollcage and fire extinguisher.
