Alfa Romeo’s Arese Museum
Celebrating 105 years in the business.

When it comes to cars, some of my earliest childhood memories revolve around the Italian marque Alfa Romeo. In the condo I lived in before immigrating to Canada, a neighbour of mine owned a bright red drop top, and I can still remember gazing at the car’s sleek lines and snake-and-cross emblem on many afternoons after school, vowing secretly to own one when I was older. But while I have yet to own anything from Alfa Romeo, I’ve maintained a casual interest in the Italian car company and recently discovered that its Arese museum in Milan, Italy was recently reopened in celebration of the marque’s 105th anniversary.

Besides housing 69 automobiles ranging from the first A.L.F.A. car to the Gran Premio 159 “Alfetta 159” F1 racer, the building also includes a brand center, bookshop, cafe, test track, showroom and customer delivery area. Of course, there’s also plenty for ardent Alfa fans and history buffs in the museum itself, with three levels covering the brand’s history, designs and racing victories.
