With one-third of the 2023 Formula 1 season completed, it’s finally time to sample the latest F1 racing game by Codemasters under EA Sports. F1 23 is the sixteenth game in the series, and launches on 16 June across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via EA App, Epic Games Store, and Steam.
FI 23 features all the latest circuits as they appeared in the 2023 Formula 1 calendar, including Las Vegas and Qatar, but three bonus tracks — China’s Shanghai International Circuit, Circuit Paul Ricard in France, and the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (Portimão) in Portugal — can also be added in the Career and My Team modes for the second season onwards.
The latest F1 game also sees the return of Braking Point, the fictional narrative-driven story mode first introduced in F1 2021. This year, gamers continue to follow the rivalry between Aiden Jackson and Devon Butler who are now teammates at the new Konnersport Butler Racing Team. At the same time, the newly crowned, first-ever female Formula 2 champion Callie Mayer is eager to race in F1. Fans of Drive To Survive will probably love the story mode that adds a little extra drama to the more technical side of racing.
Handling and physics have been upgraded in the new game thanks to feedback received from real F1 teams and drivers. Gamers can feel an obvious difference in areas such as mechanical grip from tyres and aerodynamic grip from the cars, while Precision Drive controller technology enhances the experience for those who play on controller. The community’s feedback has also been taken into account, with the option to choose 35% race distance, red flags, and more being available in My Team mode.
Another highlight of the game is the inclusion of drivers’ dynamic ratings in My Team mode, which will update every few races to reflect the action and drama on and off the track. Alongside an overall score, the dynamic ratings are also broken into Experience, Racecraft, Awareness, and Pace.
