A Lifelong Passion
Hostetler's Hudson Auto Museum collection auction

The name Hudson represents a significant role in the history of American automobile. The automaker was founded in 1909 in Detroit and merged with American Motors in 1954. If we have to name a number one fan of Hudson, the title would go to the late Eldon Hostetler who had a lifelong passion for the marque, so much that he donated much of his Hudson collection to the city of Shipshewana, in northern Indiana for opening a museum in 2005.

Hostetler passed away in 2016 and the city of Shipshewana made the decision to close the museum permanently and sell the entire museum collection earlier this year. The world’s most complete Hudson collection includes 69 Hudson, Essex, Terraplane, Railton, and Dover cars and trucks, from the very first Hudson, the 1909 Model 20, to the last dual-tone 1956 Hornet, with representative models from every decade in between. The auction will be hosted by Worldwilde Auctioneers at the museum site on 4 August.
