A jaw-dropping, jet-like private plane
Cobalt Valkyrie

I’ve never actually piloted a plane, but like many kids growing up, I often daydreamed about flying F-16s on imaginary missions into enemy territory. As such, I was instantly reminded of my childhood upon setting eyes on Cobalt’s upcoming Valkyrie plane — a futuristic, beautifully-designed aircraft that closely resembles a fighter plane and is poised to become the fastest single piston engine production plane on the market. Better yet, the Valkyrie will reportedly come with a sticker price of around $700,000, which makes it a more attractive option to popular models like the Cirrus SR22T.

Besides its jaw-dropping looks, the Valkyrie has much to recommend it. The aircraft will apparently boast a top speed of 260 knots, and can cruise at 220 knots for almost 1500 nautical miles while consuming only 15 gallons of fuel per hour; the CO50 Valkyrie edition is capable of 240 knots over 1,000 nautical miles at 22 gallons an hour. Other noteworthy features, include an aircraft parachute system, an interior by an ex-Hermes craftsman, a minimalist glass instrument panel, side stick flight controls, seating for five, an anti-ice system and a turbocharged Continental engine — all of which make the Valkyrie something that pilots should salivate over upon its scheduled release in 2017.
