The Ultimate Longtail
McLaren 600LT

After the initial teaser in early June, McLaren has unveiled the latest longtail model from the Sport Series as the 600LT, the fourth car model with the longtail name.

The longer, lighter and more powerful peer of 570S, the 600LT is 74 mm longer than other Sports Series models thanks for the new and lengthened front splitter and extended rear diffuser, both made of carbon fibre. More carbon fibre including side sills and fixed rear wing are found on the body and in total 23% of parts are different that than of the 570S. The aerodynamic bodywork  substantially increased downforce, especially on track. The road-legal coupe is also 96 kg lighter, with the lightest dry weight being 1247 kg.

The unique exhaust system with top-exit pipes helps to save weight and offers a distinct appearance. It is located behind the driver’s shoulder so powerful roar can be expected even inside the cabin. Aluminium double-wishbone suspension and lightweight braking system are derived from 720S and bespoke, track-focused Pirelli Trofeo R tires are set on forged wheels. The 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 offers peak power of 592 bhp with maximum torque of 620 Nm, though the acceleration and top speed figures have not been announced yet.

The interior features extensive use of Alcantara and carbon fibre racing seats first appeared on the McLaren P1. Owner will be able to opt for carbon fibre seats from McLaren Senna, while extra upgrades such as carbon fibre roof and cantrails and vented carbon fibre front fenders are offered by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). The 600LT will go into limited production in October and for around 12 months, all hand-assembled at the McLaren Production Centre in Woking.
