Street Art On Fast Lane
Hot Wheels x Futura Laboratories Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4

Hot Wheels has always been about more than just toy cars, and through the Mattel Creations platform, its pop culture–driven projects have found a perfect home. The latest collaboration with Futura Laboratories reimagines a street racer through the lens of one of graffiti’s true originals. Futura, the New Yorker who turned tagging trains in the ’70s into a career spanning sneakers and galleries, now brings his trademark style to 1:64 scale.

The choice of car — the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 — is no accident. With its twin turbos and street-racing pedigree, it’s a Japanese icon tied closely to Futura’s life and friendships.

Wrapped in a livery inspired by his explosive painting Moment, Magnitude, Scale, the car wears streaks and atom motifs that channel his signature energy. Look closely and you’ll also spot his “Perpetual Motion” graphic and a “DOSMIL” plate, a nod to his alter ego, Futura 2000.

Hot Wheels hasn’t skimped on details either — the die-cast is finished in raw ZAMAC metal with smoke-tinted glass, Real Riders wheels, and an acrylic display case adorned with more Futura graphics, all packaged in a full slipcover.

Dropping 26 September on the Mattel Creations online store, this collab is set to sell out in seconds.
