Minimal Comeback
Vespampère by Giulio Iacchetti

Piaggio released the first Vespa in 1946. It became a hit immediately in Italy with its minimal design and convenient way of travelling around winding and narrow streets. Vespa since became a style icon favoured by the Mods and still has its place in pop culture.

Designer Giulio Iacchetti has brought the classic Vespa 98 into modernity. While trying to maintain its aesthetic, Vespampère has been given a slimmer body and floating seat for a lighter weight and better agility. The scooter is powered by an electric motor, there for it takes up much less space than a regular internal combustion engine. Instead of a physical dashboard, the controls are handled via smartphone docked in the steering wheel. Through an app, the rider can access information such as speedometer and battery status and handle other settings. The phone is also charged at the same time so there is no need worry about your phone’s battery life.
