Richard Mille RM 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph

The partnership between Richard Mille and McLaren began last year, and the first product was just launched during the Geneva Motor Show. Created as a collaboration between McLaren Design Director Rob Melville and Richard Mille Engineer Fabrice Namura, the RM 11-03 McLaren Automatic Flyback Chronograph is a watch bristling with high tech materials and McLaren design touches.

The timepiece has taken the curves from McLaren’s supercars as reference points. For example, the titanium pushers echo the headlights of the 720S. The titanium inserts mimic the shape of the McLaren F1’s air-intake snorkel, while the titanium crown is shaped like a McLaren wheel. The orange quartz TPT material just bears the signature Woking shade, and the automaker’s logo can also be found on the bezel at 6 o’clock. Underneath the Carbon TPT case is the automatic RMAC3 calibre. The flyback chronograph uses two barrels and has a power reserve of 55 hours. Grade 5 titanium is used for key elements such as baseplate and bridges for high stiffness. The watch also features an annual calendar, oversized date, 12-hour chronograph and countdown counter functions.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the flyback chronograph is initially targeted to owners of McLaren Ultimate Series cars. Owners will have the opportunity to match their car’s edition number of 1 to 500 to the caseback number of their watch.
