As Seen On Pikes Peak
Radford Type 62-2 Track Edition

During 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb happening in June, Radford Motors sent the roaring Pikes Peak Edition of its Type 62-2 out, with Tanner Foust piloting the race car and winning the Exhibition Class of the event. Recently Radford has decided to put it into limited production of just 12 examples.

Formula 1 champion Jenson Button is one of the co-founders of the relaunched Radford Motors, so whatever the company creates is undoubtedly exciting. While the original street-legal Type 62-2 is a modern take of the 1969 Lotus Type 62 Race Car built on an all carbon monocoque, Radford says each of the Type 62-2 Track Edition will be “explicitly tailored to the clients’ specifications.” Still, we can reference the Pikes Peak racer to imagine what can be expected.

The upgraded track car shares the same monocoque but has a new underbody and brand new carbon fibre bodywork instead of an aluminium body. In addition to being 230 mm wider, it also features aggressive aero parts including front splitter, massive rear wing and roof scoop, yet weighing just 861 kg. It’s powered by a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 pushing 700 bhp and has a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 2.2 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph.

The Radford Type 62-2 Track Edition is clearly dedicated to racing fanatics, that’s why it comes with track related perks such as bespoke racing overalls plus other racing gear, tyre support from Yokohama and even the opportunity to train with Jenson Button and Tanner Foust.
