Another Automotive Biopic
Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend

Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend was first announced way back in 2015, and now, seven years later, Lionsgate has finally released a trailer and release date for this promising biopic.

Starring Frank Grillo in the lead role, the film recounts Ferruccio Lamborghini’s earlier life, from his roots in manufacturing tractors, to building military vehicles during World War II, to creating the Lamborghini supercars that we are familiar with in the post-war period. The film is based on Tonino Lamborghini’s biography about his father, while Robert Moresco — the screenwriter of Crash — takes up the screenplay adaptation and director role.

As seen in the trailer, part of the story is centred around the rivalry between Ferruccio Lamborghini and Enzo Ferrari (played by Gabriel Byrne). While it is true that Ferruccio Lamborghini was once a Ferrari fan and his dissatisfaction with the Italian supercars fuelled his desire to create his own, it’ll be interesting to see how the competition plays out on the big screen. One thing we can be sure of is the endless cameos from classic Lambos like the 350 GT, Countach, and Miura. The film also features Mira Sorvino as Annita Borgatti, Lamborghini’s second wife.

Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend is set to be released in theatres and on digital streaming services on November 18 in the United States, with a wider release hopefully following soon after.
