A Modern Tribute To A Legend
Ferrari SC40

The world of Ferrari’s Special Projects programme is one of pure exclusivity, where dreams take shape in carbon fibre and every car is built around a single client’s vision. The latest creation from this ultra-bespoke division, the Ferrari SC40, is a striking continuation of that philosophy — a one-off masterpiece that pays homage to the legendary F40 while propelling Ferrari’s design language into the future.

Based on the 296 GTB platform, the SC40’s angular, industrial form echoes the F40’s raw aggression but introduces softer transitions and refined detailing to establish its own identity. A long, low nose is balanced by a short rear overhang, while the bespoke SC40 White paint covers both body and high fixed rear wing. A contrasting black separation line enhances the rear fascia and sides. Muscular surfaces define its proportions, with details like a 3D-printed titanium exhaust, bold carbon-fibre accents, and smoked Lexan louvres that reveal the V6 engine beneath. Power comes from the 296 GTB’s hybrid setup — a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 paired with an electric motor, producing 818 hp and 740 Nm of torque through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

From the side, reinterpreted NACA-style intercooler intakes framed by carbon-fibre elements add drama, while clean vertical lines along the wings, doors, and engine cover create a sense of structure and rhythm. Up front, the wide black intake and corner-mounted headlights give the car an assertive, almost architectural presence.

Inside, the SC40 continues its homage to the F40 with extensive use of Kevlar — a hallmark of the original’s cabin — alongside carbon fibre and Charcoal Alcantara. Red Jacquard fabric upholsters the seats, complemented by Prancing Horse headrests and a woven SC40 logo that reinforces its exclusivity.

Though the SC40 remains a one-of-a-kind commission, its full-scale styling buck now resides at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, offering fans a glimpse into the artistry of Ferrari’s most exclusive creations.
