Who Wants To Walk, Anyway?
Ford Carr-E Electric Rideable Platform

Ford’s cute and straightforward Carr-E looks more like a robotic sweeper or a UFO than a transportation system. Yet, this concept conquered 632 other competitors and proposals submitted for the Last Mile Mobility Challenge, a Ford employee competition.

This challenge dared staff to create electric personal transportation devices, to ease the commute to their destination, especially in areas where vehicles are not feasible. The Carr-E can go for 22.5km on a single charge while carrying a person or object up to 120kg with a top speed of 18km/h. The device also has front and rear lights as well as GPS tracking. It not only autonomously avoids obstacles but also follows your steps while transporting your heavy objects. This cyber-look little helper is incredibly easy to store, as it fits perfectly and neatly in a car trunk, golf buggy or shopping cart. Ford’s tiny slice of mechanical common sense should erase the last excuse for having a little sidewalk speeder of your own.

There’s no argument that it’s physically impossible to look cool riding something like this, so the real question is: How badly do you want to avoid exercise?
