Roborace Doubles Up
Roborace tests at Silverstone

After its visit to Hong Kong last month, Roborace has revealed further development of its DevBots via the latest episode of the “Inside Roborace” video series. In the latest clip, we see the Roborace team bringing their two DevBots to the track at Silverstone Race Circuit in Oxford, UK.

For someone unfamiliar with the concept, Roborace is an autonomously driven and electrically powered race car championship to be held during the FIA Formula E championship season. The DevBots are prototypes that test both software and hardware used on the new Robocar. The new series was scheduled for a demonstration in last month’s Formula E round in Hong Kong but had to cancel due to complications.

The finished production race car design is the creation of Daniel Simon, who is more well-known as the designer of Light Cycle from Tron: Legacy, and although these two prototypes are vastly different in appearance to this finished product, they were circuit tested in fully autonomous mode, putting the team substantially closer to their goal. We can’t wait for the proper launch of the series!
