Made for the road
1959 Porsche 356S “Outlaw” by Emory Motorsports

Porsche restomods can be a touchy subject amongst purists, but Burbank, California’s Rod Emory is considered one of the best — despite his enthusiasm for non-original additions. Emory Motorsports’ custom 356s, in particular, are in high demand — Jay Leno is a notable customer — and it’s not hard to see why. Case in point is the gorgeous 1959 Porsche 356S “Outlaw” (seen here) that the car company recently revealed, featuring rally-style seating and modern performance upgrades while retaining the car’s original aesthetics.

The name “356 Outlaw,” it seems was given to the Emorys in the early 80s, as they were not afraid to install race and rally-inspired accessories to vintage Porsches. At a time when full concourse restorations were at their peak, the company made its name by putting wide wheels and race numbers on its 356s. More importantly, these modern upgrades were functional, and enabled the Porsches to perform the way they were intended to be driven.
