Crystal Clear Futurism
Škoda VISION E

Czech-based glass manufacturer Lasvit has produced crystal components for another Czech-based car company, Škoda, for use in its latest concept car called the “Škoda Vision E”.

Presented this April at the Auto Shanghai exhibition, the Vision E is Škoda’s first electric autonomous automobile. It is equipped with two electric motors to generate a combined 225 kW, which delivers a potential driving range of up to 500 kilometres.

Lasvit was founded in 2007 by Leon Jakimic, and is known for combining the authenticity of glass with creative craftsmanship and innovative ideas. In just a few short years, the Czech-based company has already gained themselves a great reputation in building premium bespoke light sculptures and art installations made from hand-blown glass. Its clientele includes renowned artists and designers such as Nendo, the Campana Brothers and Daniel Libeskind.

For this project, Lasvit delivered the logos on the front and rear hoods and on the steering wheel, as well as prisms in the doors and the dashboard. The multifunctional controller, the display, the headrests and the inside rearview mirror, are all decorated with the crystal elements as well. All components are produced from hand-worked and hand-cut glass. These elements come together in the concept car, to raise the bar for elegance in the sports car arena. The production of the Vision E is still to be confirmed.
