Product designer Mario Tsai from HangZhou China, is a fan of minimalism, working by the motto: “Use less, design better”. He likes to add elements of Chinese style into his work, for instance the “Mountains” clothes rack, which is very popular and inspired by Chinese landscape paintings.

His latest work “Lantern Lighting Series” is inspired by ancient Chinese portable lanterns, and includes a pendant lamp, desk lamp and floor lamp, which have different uses by when components are swapped. The designer has used pure lines to simplify the lantern, and you can choose between glass or metal mesh as lampshades, so that they can fit into different occasions and decoration styles. These lights not only combine practicality and design, but provide the perfect mix of retro and modernism.
