Your Life’s Companion
The Agnes Chair

You might already know that the strange and hard to understand product names of Swedish furniture brand IKEA exist because founder Ingvar Kamprad suffered from Dyslexia. To combat this, his family created the IKEA naming system to include boys and girls names, as well as plants and names of places, etc.) to enable him to categorise as well as remember the products. Similar to IKEA, Ire has its own Character Collection that also uses girls and boys names for furniture, but for a slightly different reason; Ire wants each armchair to have its own personality and be our friend and companion throughout the years.

The Agnes Chair designed by Andreas Engesvik and is described as ‘a gentle and warm person’; Ire puts a rugged covering over the handcrafted wooden frame, making it soft and comfortable, and encouraging you to be lazy and casual, or relaxed and restful. Whether located in a summerhouse or an apartment in the city, “Agnes” blends in quickly, encouraging you to find a spot to settle in.

Besides Agnes, Ire also offers Agda, Eva and Estrid. In this ever-changing era, these names might someday come to represent your time spent at home, fusing your life’s memories from remembered fragments that combine to become your sense of belonging and your obsession towards the place you call home.
