Virtual Reality platform Bigscreen was launched in 2016 and currently has over 6 million users. After a long wait, the company has released its first VR headset named Beyond, and impressively, it’s the world’s smallest VR headset.
Weighing just 127 grams, Bigscreen Beyond is packed with all the latest technology and is capable of rivalling many much larger models available in the market. The headset features 5K resolution OLED microdisplays with 2560 x 2560 pixels per eye, up to 90Hz refresh rate, 28 PPD and a 90º wide field of view, while its custom pancake optics contribute to the compact form factor and improved clarity. The headset works with PC only, but also supports VR games and applications on Steam thanks to the SteamVR technology.
Each example of the Bigscreen Beyond is custom-made and requires every customer to do a 3D face scan via the company’s iPhone app, the headset is then built according to the user’s face shape and interpupillary distance. A custom face cushion is also supplied to ensure the headset rests at the correct angle for the best viewing experience.
Beyond can now be pre-ordered in the U.S. market with delivery in Q3 2023, and it will be rolled into other regions soon after.
