Warhawk Revived
Curtiss Warhawk motorcycle

Over 100 years ago, Glenn Curtiss, considered as inventor of the V-twin engine, created a unique motorcycle powered by a 40 hp V8 engine. He later moved onto building aircraft, and one of the most well-known models from his company was the P-40 Warhawk, an American single seat, all-metal aircraft fighter that first flew in 1938. As a tribute, Alabama-based motorcycle builder Confederate Motors just changed the company name to Curtiss Motorcycle, and released a limited edition motorbike that is named after Curtiss P-40 Warhawk.

The motorbike maker claimed to have spent 27 years perfecting Glen Curtiss’s V-Twin invention and applied the results to the hot rod style Warhawk motorbike. The engine generates 150 hp and 217 Nm of torque, and easily accelerates to 270 km/h. The frame is machined in aluminium, and is paired with girder forks, a double-adjustable rear shock absorber and carbon fibre wheels.

The Curtiss Warhawk is priced at US$105,000 and only 35 examples will be built. It will also be Curtiss’ last combustion-powered motorcycle as the company is moving towards building electric motorbikes.
