Bell Helicopter has unveiled its new FCX-001 concept aircraft at the HAI HELI-EXPO 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Bell sought to team engineers with graphic designers to address ever-changing market demands through reimagined technologies that significantly enhance both the pilot and passenger experience. The startling FCX-001 was is their result.

The FCW-001 utilises a new anti-torque system in the tail boom designed to vastly improve the safety, noise and performance parameters of vertical lift aircraft. It has a hybridised propulsion system that facilitates simpler operation and maintenance and employs both artificial intelligence and an augmented reality system to produce an entirely new flight deck experience. Further, the FCX-001 airframe uses advanced sustainable materials for superior structural integrity while also providing plenty of cabin room.

Although the FCX-001 is unlikely to hit the market anytime soon, it is always fascinating to see the future of aviation through the perspective of an industry pioneer like Bell.
