Tribute To McLaren F1 GTR
Gordon Murray Automotive S1 LM

Thirty years after the debut of the McLaren F1 GTR, penned by automotive design genius Gordon Murray, the master himself has unveiled an exclusive limited edition — the S1 LM — under his company Gordon Murray Automotive.

Revealed during Monterey Car Week, the S1 LM feels like both a history lesson and a mic-drop moment. Commissioned exclusively for a single collector and limited to just five examples, it serves as Murray’s ultimate homage to the McLaren F1 GTR that famously stormed to victory at Le Mans in 1995.

Based on the T.50S chassis, the S1 LM is powered by a reworked 4.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 producing 690 hp, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox for the purest analogue driving thrills. A solidly mounted engine, stiffer suspension, and track-focused set-up underscore its racing pedigree, while aero elements — from a split rear wing to an oversized diffuser — deliver serious downforce.

Visually, the S1 LM reinterprets several of the F1 GTR’s most iconic cues, including the roof-mounted intake, quad central exhausts, and purposeful stance. From some angles, it could almost be the 1995 winner’s reflection, yet its carbon craftsmanship and subtly updated styling make it unmistakably contemporary.

Described by the marque as an “automotive work of art,” the S1 LM stands as both a fitting tribute to a three-decade-old endurance hero and a bold statement of what modern coachbuilding can achieve.
