1976/1983 Ferrari 308 GTB Group B Michelotto

Ferrari 308 GTB may not be the most precious model from the marque, but only 15 cars were built by Giuliano Michelotto as rally cars between 1978 and 1985. This particular example, chassis number #18869, was delivered to Pro Motorsport team in 1983 as a Group B machine.

Debuted at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari 308 GTB was designed by Pininfarina and featured a 3.0-litre V8 (hence the name). The engine of this competition example was tuned to produce around 300 hp, about 50 hp more than the stock engine. It was the first of four examples built by Michelotto, and the only one that featured a two-valve engine and a fibreglass body. The race car has a remarkable race record including taking the first place in the 1983 Sicilian Rally Championship and the 1984 Spanish Rally Championship.

With an estimate of €800,000 – 1,000,000, this Group B race car was one of the lots in the Le Mans Classic auction last week but remains unsold, so if you are interested in this rare gem it is worth contacting Artcurial for details.
